Blackburn are allegedly expecting West Ham United to make a bid for 23-year-old striker Ben Brereton Diaz.

That’s according to a report from Football League World who claim that Blackburn are ‘bracing’ themselves for a bid from the Hammers for Brereton Diaz.

West Ham manager David Moyes is allegedly prioritising a move to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja this summer.

Chelsea are allegedly likely to sell Broja BUT if we miss out on the Albanian, Moyes will target a move to sign Blackburn’s Brereton Diaz according to club insiders Claret and Hugh.

Whatever happens this summer, West Ham absolutely have to get the signing of a top-class striker done before the start of the new season.

There will be no excuses in the summer transfer window. Moyes has had more than 18 months now to bring a replacement for Sebastien Haller to the London Stadium. And it seems as though one club in particular think that the Scot could be targeting a move for one of their players…

West Ham could bid for Ben Brereton Diaz

Well, that’s what Blackburn are expecting anyway according to a report from Football League World.

Now, the 23-year-old wouldn’t be a bad signing at all for the Hammers. We strongly believe that Moyes should be setting his sights a lot higher though.

Claret and Hugh reckon that Blackburn will demand around £25 million for Brereton Diaz.

We have to say, that price sounds a little too expensive for someone who has only one good goalscoring season behind him.

Perhaps £15-20 million would be a more reasonable fee to pay for the Chile international.

The Sun and Alan Nixon recently suggested that a move to West Ham in the summer would be a dream for the 23-year-old striker.

He has really impressed since the start of the 2021/22 campaign and he seems to have reached another level entirely for Blackburn.

The Chile international has bagged 22 goals in 37 Championship games (Transfermarkt). Diaz actually went nine games without scoring after the new year but made up for that with a couple of goals in Blackburn’s final four games of the season.

Brereton Diaz is a hard working striker and standing at 6ft 1in tall, he’s big and strong as well.

The thing is, he has only proved himself for one season and we are sure that Moyes can do better.

If West Ham sign Brereton Diaz as a last resort I suppose we would have to accept it. Let’s just hope that Moyes has grander plans this summer.
