West Ham face a big problem with Aston Villa thought to be lining up a move to sign a highly talented young star in the January transfer window.

The January transfer window will be a vitally important one for both West Ham United and Aston Villa.

Hammers boss David Moyes needs to bolster his attacking ranks whilst Villa manager Unai Emery wants reinforcements in through the door as well.

One player to have been linked with West Ham is Norwich City attacker Jonathan Rowe (The Standard), and the Hammers fans would have been incredibly excited to see his wonder goal against Hull City on Friday.

Now though, we may well face strong competition for his signature from Aston Villa, according to talkSPORT.

And that’s really bad news for the East London club…

Aston Villa moving in for Rowe in the January window

Villa are absolutely flying in the Premier League this season, and are currently sitting in second spot in the table.

So with that in mind, it’s little wonder as to why they would be a really attractive prospect for someone like Jonathan Rowe.

Missing out on the 20-year-old Norwich ace to Villa would really hurt – he is such an exciting young talent.

Rowe has 12 goals and three assists in 28 games for Norwich to his name so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Born in London and a former AFC Wembley youth player, Rowe is absolutely rapid, can play on either wing or even in the number 10 position. He is a really direct runner, and would add a totally different dimension to our attacking play.

The Daily Mail claim that Norwich City will demand around £20 million for the 20-year-old – a lot of money for someone who is not yet proven in the Premier League.

That said, he is an elite talent, and I have no doubts in my mind that he’ll make it at the very highest level of the game.

I would absolutely love West Ham to sign him in the January transfer window, but Aston Villa chasing his signature feels really ominous.
