West Ham United tried very hard to sign Harry Maguire from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire remained at Old Trafford in the end though, and missed out on a move to West Ham.

Hammers boss David Moyes desperately wanted the 30-year-old Man United defender at the London Stadium.

West Ham apparently agreed personal terms with Maguire in the summer, but he couldn’t agree on a figure with Manchester United, regarding some kind of severance pay.
It seems as though the idea of Maguire moving to West Ham is not completely dead in the water though…
Big Harry Maguire twist emerges that West Ham fans will be very interested to know
The possibility of Maguire joining the Hammers is still very much on.
In fact, Football Insider claim that West Ham are in pole position to sign him in the January transfer window.

I still think that he would be a superb addition to Moyes’s ranks at the London Stadium, despite what some people might say.
Maguire is extremely experienced, with 222 Premier League games and 59 international caps for England to his name (Transfermarkt).
He thrives when playing as part of a deep back-line, and would be the perfect player to line up alongside Kurt Zouma and either Nayef Aguerd or Konstantinos Mavropanos at the London Stadium.
I think Harry Maguire would be able to reinvigorate his career by leaving Manchester United and joining West Ham this winter. As long as we are able to sign him for £25 million or less, then it’s a deal that Moyes should be all over.
