Big blow for West Ham with 25-year-old attacker having suggested he wants to join Liverpool

West Ham may have our work cut-out if we are to sign Flamengo ace Gabriel Barbosa, with the attacker having admitted Liverpool is his dream move.

Hammers boss David Moyes is on the look-out for a new centre-forward this summer and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may well be as well.

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane looks set to leave Anfield, whilst Roberto Firmino’s best days are well behind him.

Meanwhile, Moyes desperately needs to bring in more quality competition and cover for Michail Antonio at the London Stadium.

Both West Ham and Liverpool have recently been linked with moves to sign Flamengo ace Gabriel Barbosa (90Min claim and Radio Bandeirantes).

And if the Hammers and the Reds do go in for the 25-year-old, it seems as though there will only be one winner…

West Ham face Gabriel Barbosa problem after Liverpool dream move admission

The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form over the past couple of years.

Barbosa has scored 100 goals in 151 games for the Brazilian giants. This season, he’s bagged 16 goals in 28 games (Transfermarkt).

The Brazilian is a proven goalscorer and that is exactly what West Ham need at the moment.

The Flamengo forward is allegedly keen to move to the Premier League from Flamengo. And it seems as though he would prefer a move to Anfield rather than the London Stadium.

Something that the striker said a couple of years ago means that the Hammers could be left empty-handed in the race to sign the 25-year-old.

Barbosa once admitted that his desire is to play in the Premier League with Liverpool, as quoted by the Daily Mail:

“Firmino is great, I really admire him. He’s been successful for many years in Europe. He is a powerful forward and he has been great for Brazil. He is an inspiration that I look up to. It would be a pleasure to play with him. Maybe we could team up for Brazil in the future and Liverpool is a team that everyone wants to play for.”

The 25-year-old could be available for around £30 million according to 90 Min.

Barbosa would be a good signing for West Ham. If Liverpool get a sniff of his availability, however, it could well be curtains for our hopes of signing him.
