West Ham have been dealt a big blow this morning with news emerging that Arsenal have made a bid for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla claims that Arsenal have lodged a €40 million (£35 million) bid to sign the giant 23-year-old striker.
That comes as bad news for the Hammers. David Moyes wants to bring Scamacca to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window according to a report from The Sun.
Michail Antonio is the only striker Moyes has had at his disposal for 18 months now and that quite simply isn’t good enough for a club with supposed ambitions of challenging for honours on all fronts.
Scamacca would be the absolute perfect addition for West Ham this summer but unfortunately for us, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is equally desperate to sign a top-class centre-forward.
And it seems as though the Gunners chief is keen to bring the Italian hitman to the Emirates this summer…
Arsenal make Scamacca bid
Alfredo Pedulla reckons that the Gunners have lodged an official £35 million to sign the Sassuolo attacker.
And if West Ham miss out on Scamacca to Arsenal for that kind of money, it will be indefensible.
He literally would have been the perfect striker signing for David Moyes.
The 23-year-old is an absolute unit. He stands at 6ft 5in tall but don’t let that fool you, he’s so much more than a bog-standard target man.
Sempre Inter recently described the towering striker as an ‘unbelievable’ player.
Scamacca possesses exceptional technique and has one of the most ferocious shots in the game at his disposal. Check this out:
Quite the talent!
Scamacca bagged 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo this season (Transfermarkt).
The Italian hitman possesses everything that David Moyes looks for in a striker. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is clearly looking for a similar sort of player to Moyes though.
And if the Arsenal bid for Scamacca is successful, it very much will be their gain and our loss.
