West Ham boss David Moyes has been strongly linked with moves to sign three of the most exciting young forwards on the planet in January.

The Hammers want to sign one of the following three strikers – Arthur Cabral (4-4-2.CH), Julian Alvarez (El Intrasigente) and Darwin Nunez (Record).

The problem for West Ham is that Barcelona want to sign all of those centre-forwards as well (4-4-2.CH, Viola News and BBC).

Despite Barca’s recent demise, they undoubtedly still hold a certain kind of allure.

Going up against them in a transfer battle will be far from ideal. It appears as though there is some very good news for the Hammers, however.

Barca Director Mateu Alemany spoke exclusively to Marca and suggested that the Catalan giants will not be active during the January transfer window:

“Today, the possibility of signing (players) in January doesn’t exist.”

If that does turn out to be the case, it will be very good news for West Ham.

Considering the fact that we are allegedly in competition with Barcelona to sign three strikers in January, the Spanish club deciding not to pursue any of them would be a huge boost for us.

If the Hammers are to finish inside the top four this season, the addition of at least one top-class centre-forward in January will be a prerequisite.
