Arsenal ace Emile Smith Rowe could be a transfer target for West Ham United this summer, with Declan Rice being eyed up by the Gunners.

West Ham are believed to be trying to convince Arsenal to include Emile Smith Rowe in a deal that would see Declan Rice head in the opposite direction, according to a report from the Sun.

And now Gunners journalist Charles Watts has doubled down on those claims, when speaking on his YouTube channel.

Rice is believed to be really close to moving to the Emirates from the London Stadium in the summer transfer window.

And if the 24-year-old does swap East London for North London, could one Arsenal player head in the opposite direction?

The Gunners are clearly best placed to sign Dec, but in order to gain another leg up, they could offer one of their talented youngsters to sweeten the deal.

Charles Watts believes that the 22-year-old Englishman could be ‘dangled’ in front of the Hammers in order to seal a deal for Rice:

“I think Smith Rowe to West Ham is a bit more exciting talent to be dangled in front of them, in a potential swap deal. I hope it doesn’t happen. I don’t want to see Smith Rowe involved in this deal. I would much rather he stayed at Arsenal.”

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta once described Smith Rowe as an ‘incredible talent’ (talkSPORT). So it’s clear to see just how highly he is rated at Arsenal.

However, he has suffered numerous injury problems already in his Arsenal career – a big concern considering his age.

And Smith Rowe barely played for the Gunners in Premier League this season just gone. Arteta gave him just 161 minutes (Transfermarkt).

The Englishman is a supremely talented young player. However, I think I would prefer the money up front from Arsenal for Declan Rice, without any player included in the deal.
