AC Milan and Roma have both made moves to sign West Ham United star in the January transfer window.

Numerous West Ham players have been linked with January transfer window exits from the London Stadium.

One of those players is Hammers defender Nayef Aguerd, with the club apparently prepared to sell him for around £30 million.

David Moyes needs to raise funds if he is going to bring in any new signings this month, so West Ham selling Aguerd would be no surprise at all.

The 27-year-old has shown glimpses of his quality since joining the Hammers but overall, he has failed to impress.

In spite of his shaky performances this season on the whole, AC Milan and Roma are still apparently keen to sign him…

West Ham man a target for Italian clubs in the January transfer window

Roma and AC Milan have made approaches to sign Aguerd on loan this month.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who explained via his Daily Briefing blog how the Moroccan is a man in high demand:

“Saudi interest in West Ham star remains, but it’s not straightforward. There was already interest at the end of the summer, the beginning of September, but West Ham said no. There is interest from Saudi again, but for West Ham the only way for this to happen is if it’s a permanent transfer, and if they can find a replacement. Milan and Roma have also been interested in Aguerd and showed an interest in recent weeks over a loan deal, but West Ham said no, it’s only a permanent transfer or nothing. Aguerd is very happy in the Premier League, it’s not about money, but he’s very happy playing at this competitive level, and so this is why he is not desperate for a move to Saudi, even if the interest is there.”

Aguerd, who earns £50k-a-week at the London Stadium (Spotrac), was signed by Moyes for around £27 million (The Athletic).

The 27-year-old possesses impressive recovery pace, but he lacks the concentration levels and positional awareness needed to succeed in the Premier League as far as I’m concerned.

If we receive a bid of £30 million or above for Aguerd, selling him should be an absolute no-brainer.

West Ham should then be able to bring in a superior centre-back in the January window.
