The summer transfer window is kicking off all over the place for West Ham United right now.

West Ham are deep in talks to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug, with Julen Lopetegui desperately keen to overhaul his squad.

The Hammers head coach has already made three signings this summer, but even if he gets deals for those three names mentioned above over the line, more work will be required.

Namely, the addition of a another new central defender will be vital.

Max Kilman looks like a brilliant signing, but the 27-year-old needs a top player to play alongside him.

Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd are quite simply not good enough to play Premier League football in my opinion.

The former’s issue is due to the fact that his body has given up on him but the point remains.

If West Ham are to succeed under Lopetegui, he cannot allow the summer transfer window to close without getting the signing of another centre-back over the line.

And now it seems like he will have a great chance to do exactly that…

If the Hammers begin the new season with either Zouma or Aguerd starting, we will be in big trouble as far as I’m concerned.

Neither are fit to wear the shirt anymore, and their performances during pre-season have been hugely concerning to see.

Lopetegui should be under no illusions about the need to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium before the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

And now it seems like he has been presented with a chance to sign a truly top-class central defender to come in and play alongside Kilman.

Salzburger Nachrichten claim that Oumar Solet has been released from training over the past few days for ‘contract negotiations’.

West Ham have been linked with a move to sign the 6ft 4in centre-back since June, and now could be the perfect time for us to make out move.

The 24-year-old is a superb central defender, and he’d be the perfect partner for Kilman in the heart of the Hammers’ back-line.

Solet is incredibly dominant in the air, possesses impressive pace along the ground and is a very good man marker.

Crucially, the Frenchman has an incredible physique, and is perfectly built for Premier League football, what with its robust and intense nature.

He possesses exceptional positional awareness as well, and reads the game with aplomb.

RB Salzburg are said to be demanding around £10.2 million for the defender this summer (Yahoo) – great value in this day and age.

If West Ham manage to bring the Frenchman to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window, it will be a very good deal for the club.
