Paul Merson has wheeled out yet more rubbish about West Ham United, with another really poor take on our current situation.
West Ham boss David Moyes is really feeling the heat right now, with the club’s owners apparently not happy with the recent performances, but Paul Merson has wheeled out the same old tripe regarding the Scot.
The Hammers are currently in the midst of a woeful run of form, and haven’t won a single game in our last eight matches in all competitions.
The problem is, the football has been utterly abysmal all season long, it’s just that now the results are not papering over the cracks.
We’re being told time and time again to ‘be careful what you wish for’, and it’s really starting to become very tiresome indeed.
Merson is one of those pundits who seems to completely miss the point every time he talks about West Ham – most recently after our 6-0 defeat to Arsenal.
And he’s just been at it again…

Paul Merson fires cheap shot at the West Ham fans
The well-renowned pundit thinks Brentford will beat us at the London Stadium on Monday night.
And he explained why he thinks that will happen, when writing his weekly prediction column for Sportskeeda:
“I think this game is going to be decided in the first 20 minutes of the match. If Brentford score a goal, it could become a very hostile atmosphere. The fans could get on West Ham’s back, and you wouldn’t want to be a West Ham player at the stadium. With West Ham, their season could change so quickly. They’re still in the Europa League, and if they win their next few games, everybody will think it’s been an amazing season. The fans are putting pressure on the club at the moment, however, and they need to be careful what they wish for. Brentford will have to face Arsenal and Chelsea after this game, and they’ll need a result here. They did well at City and they could frustrate West Ham – I’m going to back Brentford to pull off a victory here.”
Prediction: West Ham United 1-2 Brentford
Merson telling the West Ham fans to be careful what we wish for is the most patronising thing in the world. Why do we have to be careful what we wish for?
Are we not allowed to dream of a team that play good football AND get positive results along the way? Or is it just the fans of the so-called ‘Big Six’ teams who are allowed to aspire to that?
I’m sick and tired of hearing the same old tired cliches from pundits who actually barely watch us play. In fact, the only football pundit who gets the situation is Graeme Souness.
I suppose the best thing to do is ignore the likes of Merson, he’s just not worth listening to as a pundit as far as I’m concerned.
