One talented young player has admitted that it is his dream to play for West Ham United one day.

West Ham have a really exciting group of youngsters currently at the club, but one player in particular perhaps hasn’t received the plaudits that he should have.

Young goalkeeper Jacob Knightbridge, 20, is a real talent, and he has trained with the first-team on numerous occasions already this season.

He has conceded 36 goals in 28 games for the West Ham under-18s, and has kept 11 clean sheets in the process. In 15 outings for the under-21s, the talented teenager has let in 19 goals and kept four clean sheets (Transfermarkt).

Knightbridge is very highly rated indeed at the London Stadium, and if he continues to work hard and applies himself properly both on and off the pitch, he will undoubtedly have an exciting future in the game.

20-year-old player admits he’d love to play for West Ham

Knightbridge has been speaking to WHUFC.com about all things West Ham and his current situation at the London Stadium.

And he opened up on just how proud he was to be included in the travelling squad for our clash with Tottenham back in December:

“I think a 12-year-old me, a West Ham fan as well, would be pretty shocked to have been there. Sometimes you maybe have to remember not to take it for granted. You have to take yourself out of that bubble and think that two or three years ago you would be shocked if you were there [as part of the first team squad]. Of course, it makes you want more of that because I’d love to play for West Ham one day – that’s the main goal of mine. I grew up in Brentwood, Essex, and West Ham is massive around there.”

Knightbridge is a commanding goalkeeper with real size and stature. The Hammers youngster is a great shot-stopper and is impressive with the ball at his feet. He’s obviously too young to start games for the first-team just yet, but he’s definitely on the right track when it comes to his development as a player.

It will be really interesting to see how he develops as a goalkeeper over the next few years. I really feel as though he has a very big future indeed at the London Stadium.

Hopefully we get to see the under-21 player represent West Ham at senior level in the not-too-distant future.
