West Ham United manager David Moyes is certainly old-school, and Wayne Rooney has just opened up on something that highlights exactly that.
Wayne Rooney has been speaking about West Ham boss David Moyes and his time working under the Scot with both Everton and Manchester United.
The Hammers manager is under fire right now with his side winless in eight games, and the standard of football leaving a lot to be desired – something that the club’s owners are apparently very unhappy about.
One reason for our poor form over the past seven or eight weeks has been the absence of Lucas Paqueta.
The Brazilian was then rushed back for our FA Cup clash with Bristol City on January 7th, before he left the field after just 15 minutes when he aggravated a persistent knee injury.
And it seems like Moyes’s methods may be to blame for the 26-year-old’s ongoing problems…

Wayne Rooney makes David Moyes claim
The former England international striker has been speaking about Moyes’s old fashioned approach to management.
Rooney explained how Moyes would never use GPS tracking during training sessions, when speaking on The Overlap podcast:
“David Moyes never used the GPS tracking in training, as he said he could see it with his eyes if a player was performing well or not. The only time he would use it was if you were coming back from injury in your sessions with physio.”
Moyes has history of rushing Paqueta back from injury as well. He did it twice last season for our games against Southampton and Chelsea – two matches where the Brazilian suffered injuries again.
I really hope that Moyes does use the science and data that is available nowadays because if he’s not, he’s putting us at a huge disadvantage.
I get the sense that the West Ham boss is one of those people who think they know best at all times. Wayne Rooney made it very clear that David Moyes relies on his own eyes rather than data-driven reports.
And if he’s still doing that, it may well be his undoing in the end.
