West Ham United are believed to be chasing the signing of an absolutely rapid centre-forward in January.
The January transfer window will be a vital one for David Moyes now, and the addition of a centre-forward is very much needed at West Ham.
The Hammers boss was already without Michail Antonio through injury and Mohammed Kudus due to his participation at AFCON before kick-off today.
However, after today’s disastrous FA Cup clash with Bristol City, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen are now injury doubts as well.
Moyes really needs to get a striker through the door before the end of the month, and Montpellier hitman Akor Adams is someone who has been linked with a move to the London Stadium over the past few weeks.
Now it seems like West Ham are definitely keen on the Nigerian ace…
West Ham eyeing centre-forward swoop in January
Football journalist Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Adams is definitely on the Hammers’ radar this winter:
“Yeah, definitely, it’s a name that keeps cropping up and because of his decent goals record in France this season I would find it surprising if they weren’t keeping an eye on him because they have scouts working extensively in the area of Europe and their job is to uncover exciting transfer targets that might not quite be as firmly on the radar as of other Premier League clubs.”
He has bagged seven goals in 17 games out in France this season, and has 51 goals and 14 assists to his name in 123 career games – a very decent record indeed (Transfermarkt).
The Nigeria international is absolutely rapid, is strong in the challenge and in the air and worked incredibly hard – basically the ideal upgrade on Michail Antonio.
If West Ham manage to sign the 23-year-old centre-forward in the January window, I believe that we will be in a very strong position to kick on during the second-half of the season.
Let’s hope that Moyes manages to bring him to the London Stadium before the window slams shut.
