West Ham United will reportedly try to sell Ben Johnson in the January transfer window for a really surprising fee.

According to Claret and Hugh – a website with close links to David Sullivan – Ben Johnson is someone who West Ham boss David Moyes is prepared to move on in the January transfer window.

It was claimed only yesterday that the 23-year-old is keen to leave the London Stadium after being unhappy with the new contract that he was offered in principle.

Johnson has fallen well down the pecking order in both the right-back and left-back positions over the past year or so, especially since March after his horrendous performance for the Hammers during our 4-0 defeat away to Brighton.

He has regressed badly over the past 18 months really, and now it seems like he’s destined for the exit door at the London Stadium. However, West Ham’S are apparent demands for him seem to be wishful thinking to say the least…

West Ham United’s target fee for Ben Johnson is hugely surprising

C&H claim that the Hammers want to sell Johnson in the January transfer window for £6 million.

Wow! That really is rather ambitious…he’s out of contract in the summer of 2024 after all.

I just can’t envisage a scenario whereby a club will pay anything like that for the 23-year-old, when they could wait just another five months and get him for absolutely nothing.

Ben Johnson has proven when playing for West Ham over the past year or so that he is nowhere near good enough for the Premier League.

That in itself tells me that he’s worth nowhere near £6 million, let alone the fact that he will be out of contract in just eight month’s time or so.

I reckon that the 23-year-old will end up playing his football in the Championship. Maybe he’ll surprise me, and many others, by getting a Premier League move. Whatever happens though, he won’t be leaving for £6 million, I’m sure of it.
