West Ham United are back in for £10 million striker, but could be beaten to the punch by Leeds United next summer.
According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Leeds are in pole position to sign Dia this winter, ahead of West Ham.
The 19-capped Senegal striker bagged just seven goals and five assists in 35 games for the Spanish side last term though (Transfermarkt).
He left Villarreal to join Italian side Salernitana on a season-long loan in the summer, and has since racked up five goals and two assists in 11 Serie A games (Transfermarkt).
It seems as though he may be Premier League bound soon though…
Leeds could beat West Ham to striker
Salernitana president Danilo Iervolino will almost certainly sign Dia on a permanent £10 million deal in the summer, and look to sell him again for a quick profit (Gazzetta dello Sport).
It is suggested that he could cost around £14 million.
And Leeds are named by Gazzetta dello Sport as the club who could pip West Ham to Dia’s signature.
We think that the Senegalese forward will actually suit Premier League football down to the ground.
And he would be a very strong addition for either West Ham or Leeds.
Dia is powerful, has explosive pace and is a real menace for opposing defenders.
£14 million for the 25-year-old ace seems like great value, in spite of his struggles with Villarreal last season.
It remains to be seen who wins the race for the striker out of West Ham and Leeds though.
