Dia, 24, ended up joining Villarreal in the summer for around €12 million (£10.2 million) having been heavily tracked by the Hammers, according to Le10 Sport.

West Ham boss David Moyes desperately needed to sign a striker in the summer. He failed to do so and the Hammers are just as much in need of one now as we were then.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Every man, woman and their dog were crying out for Moyes to sign Boulaye Dia in the summer. The 25-year-old enjoyed a magnificent campaign with Stade Reims last season with 16 goals in 38 games to his name (Transfermarkt).

The Hammers deiced not to sign the Senegal international and Villarreal ended up winning the race for his signature.

Dia has endured a horror start to life in province of Castellón. He’s bagged just two goals in 20 appearances so far for Villarreal (Transfermarkt).

The 25-year-old striker has been criticised by the Spanish press, including the likes of Marca, for his poor performances this season.

Moyes deserves a lot of credit for refusing to sign Dia despite the overwhelming protests from the West Ham fans at the time.

The Scot clearly thinks West Ham can do a lot better than Villarreal hitman Boulaye Dia.
