West Ham could make a move for Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic in January according to claims from insider ExWHUemployee.

Hammers boss David Moyes is well-known to be on the look-out for a top-class striker in the January transfer window.

Michail Antonio is the only senior centre-forward at the London Stadium at the moment. That clearly isn’t good enough for a club with aspirations of succeeding both domestically and on the continent.

Moyes absolutely must sign an established hitman to help ease the load on Antonio’s shoulders. And it seems as though the Scot may have someone in particular in mind.

West Ham eyeing January swoop for Aleksandar Mitrovic

The 27-year-old Fulham hitman has been absolutely on fire in the Championship so far this season.

He has bagged 22 goals and five assists in 21 league games for the Cottagers (Transfermarkt). He possesses an impressive career record as well with 161 goals in 382 games in addition to 44 in 69 for Serbia.

The Serbia international is a target man type striker. He is well versed in leading the line on his own and is a very good finisher as well.

Mitrovic would provide a completely different option for David Moyes through the middle. And ExWHUemployee reckons that a January swoop for the Serb could be on:

“In terms of forwards, we are looking to sign a new forward. They have had a look into the Championship. One is Mitrovic of Fulham who we have been looking at for years and years. He’s the top scorer in the Championship by quite some distance. He would offer an alternative to Antonio, he’s bigger and has experience of playing for Serbia. He’s got aggression. He could be a signing we look at because I know we’ve spoken to him before.”

Mitrovic has long been on the Hammers’ radar. Slaven Bilic wanted to bring the striker to the London Stadium way back in January 2017 (Football.London).

Prising him away from Craven Cottage certainly won’t be easy with Fulham in the midst of a promotion battle.

Money talks though.

Mitrovic could be a very smart January addition for West Ham. He won’t come cheap, but if West Ham make an offer in excess of £25 million for the Serb, it will be interesting to see how Fulham respond.
