West Ham star Vladimir Coufal has been banished by his national team after an official statement accusing him and two others of breaking rules.

When David Moyes talks about the factors behind West Ham’s rise during his tenure he often highlights Czech duo Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek.

The Scot praises the pair for their dedication, professionalism, workrate, desire and attitude.

So there will be some surprise among West Ham fans today by news emerging from the Czech Republic squad.

Because West Ham star Coufal has been banished by the national team after an official statement accusing him and two others of breaking rules.

The Czech Republic drew 1-1 against Poland with a goal from Hammers star and their captain Soucek.

Coufal played the full 90 minutes in that game too.

Now they face Moldova in a crunch final match on Monday to decide if they qualify for Euro 2024.

But they will do so without West Ham right-back Coufal after he was accused of ‘fundamentally violating the internal rules of the national team on Saturday night’.

“Three players of the national team fundamentally violated the internal rules of the national team on Saturday night,” an official statement from the Czech national team states.

“Jakub Brabec, Vladimír Coufal and Jan Kuchta left the national team meeting (squad) with immediate effect by decision of the national team management.”

There is no further detail on exactly what Coufal and the other two players are said to have done wrong.

The likes of The Sun have already labelled Coufal a ‘disgrace’ and claim he was ‘out partying’.

West Ham are yet to comment on the incident and it remains to be seen whether they do so.

Given West Ham’s lack of options at right-back and Coufal’s importance to the team, Moyes and the club may privately be selfishly relieved that the player will not risk injury by playing in the huge game on Monday night.
