West Ham might have made a terrible, terrible mistake by selling Sebastien Haller back in January 2021.
Sebastien Haller left West Ham to join Ajax just over two years ago for around £20 million (The Times).

The Ivory Coast international then left the Dutch giants to join Borussia Dortmund for around £27.3 million in the summer of 2022 (Forbes).

Things never worked out for Haller at the Hammers. In fairness, we never set up to get the best out of him under either Manuel Pellegrini or David Moyes.
The Scot will now surely be regretting having sold him to Ajax though…
West Ham might have made a terrible Sebastien Haller mistake
The former Eintracht Frankfurt forward has bagged a total of 51 goals and 17 assists in 82 games for Ajax and Dortmund combined since he left West Ham (Transfermarkt).
I really feel like we gave up on the striker way too soon.
The Ivorian is very good in the air and has outstanding technical ability.
In order for the 28-year-old to succeed, he needs to have another striker alongside him like he did with Luka Jovic at Frankfurt or have two narrow wingers slotted in next to him.

Sebastien Haller failed at West Ham because we never played to his strengths, and that’s a huge shame.
I bet David Moyes wishes that he kept hold of him now.
One final note – Haller has recently recovered from testicular cancer, so the fact that he is playing football at the highest level with Borussia Dortmund again really is quite remarkable.
I’m sure everyone involved with West Ham in any kind of capacity is delighted for him.
