West Ham desperately need Maxwel Cornet to hit the ground running when Premier League action resumes on Sunday.

Maxwel Cornet joined West Ham United from Burnley in the summer for around £17.5 million (Sky Sports).

Unfortunately for the 26-year-old though, his debut campaign with West Ham has been ravaged by injuries. In fact, he has played only 90 minutes for us in the Premier League spread over six appearances so far (Transfermarkt).

Cornet returned to the squad just before the international break and he could now be like a new player for David Moyes at the London Stadium.

One thing’s for sure, we really need him to hit the ground running…

West Ham need Maxwel Cornet to help us avoid Premier League relegation

With the Premier League survival battle really beginning to heat up, the Hammers desperately need to find some form at the most crucial part of the season.

And Cornet could give us the boost that we need to go on and push for mid-table security.

The Ivorian is one of the few players at West Ham who has raw, explosive pace.

The Hammers have lacked any kind of threat in behind this season. Michail Antonio has lost his pace and without Cornet, we have been totally impotent inside the final third.

Now we need the 26-year-old to return to action and give us that added bit of spark, pace and power in attack.

The beauty of Maxwel Cornet is that he can play anywhere along the front-line for West Ham. That type of versatility will enable Moyes to play him in pretty much every game between now and the end of the season, if he so chooses.

The next six weeks or so will be absolutely vital for the Hammers. And if we are to avoid the drop, I think Cornet will have a really important role to play.
