West Ham United may well still have a chance of signing Nicolo Zaniolo in the summer, even after he joined Galatasaray from AS Roma today.
West Ham chased the 23-year-old attacking midfielder pretty much all month long throughout the January transfer window according to the likes of Tutto Juve.

West Ham could have really done with signing Zaniolo. It’s such a shame that the club didn’t make an offer for the Italian without any silly caveats involved. Hammers boss David Moyes would have a much stronger side at his disposal, had the 23-year-old moved to the London Stadium last month.
A deal is still possible in the summer though…
West Ham still have chance to sign Nicolo Zaniolo after Galatasaray move
It seems as though the Italian has joined Turkish giants Galatasaray.
So we can assume that West Ham have missed our chance, right? Wrong.
Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter today to suggest that the Italian has a release clause inserted into his deal amounting to just €35 million (£31 million):
I think West Ham shouldn’t think twice about activating that clause to sign Nicolo Zaniolo in the summer transfer window.
He would be a sensational signing for us.
Zach Lowy described him as superb. Football Italia describe the Roma star as a wonderful talent. And they’re spot on – he really is special.
Zaniolo is a world-class player in the making. Italy boss Roberto Mancini once described the 23-year-old as an ‘extraordinary’ player (Goal).
Zaniolo is big and powerful and standing at 6ft 3in tall, he seems to be perfectly built for the Premier League.
Signing the Italian for just £31 million from Galatasaray in the summer will be an absolute no-brainer for West Ham in my opinion.
