West Ham man set to join Gianluca Scamacca at Atalanta as his imminent departure is confirmed by a journalist.
One of the key men behind the scenes at West Ham is set to join Gianluca Scamacca in leaving the club for Atalanta in Italy.
Scamacca was identified as the striker West Ham should sign to finally replace Sebastien Haller last summer.
Alongside Rob Newman, David Moyes believed the Hammers should sign Scamacca from Sassuolo for £35m.

The move did not work out, though, as the Italian struggled to adapt to Moyes’ approach and system.
He was sold to Atalanta for around £25m in the summer with Moyes claiming he ‘didn’t want to be here’.
Top West Ham transfer scout and Moyes ally Mick Doherty – who describes himself as being responsible for West Ham’s ‘Emerging Talent International/UK Recruitment’ – arrived at the club following last summer’s window.
Now the West Ham man is set to join Scamacca at Atalanta as his imminent departure is confirmed by a journalist.

Talent hunter becomes the hunted
Yesterday we reported on a claim from Alan Nixon that Doherty had handed his notice in at West Ham.
Now the same journalist has revealed Doherty is heading to Italy after leaving the Hammers.
It is not clear how much notice Doherty will have to serve at West Ham.
But he will join up with Welshman Lee Congerton, who is head of recruitment for Atalanta having both worked for Celtic previously.

West Ham scout joining striker at Serie A club claims journalist
“Top spy Mick Doherty is joining Serie A side Atalanta after leaving West Ham and his long term ally David Moyes,” Nixon said on his Patreon.
“Doherty is being head hunted by Lee Congerton who heads the Italian team’s recruitment team.
“Congerton has previously worked at Chelsea before heading to Bergamo and now Doherty follows him.
“He had worked with Moyes at Everton for years and joined up with the manager at the Hammers.
“However Doherty decided to move on and put in his notice last week.”
Since Doherty was appointed last year, David Sullivan and Daniel Kretinsky have hired Tim Steidten as technical director in charge of recruitment.
And Doherty clearly feels his face does not fit as he goes in search of a new challenge.
