West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez spoke to reporters about his goal after our 3-1 win over Everton on Saturday.
Edson Alvarez was absolutely brilliant once again for West Ham against Everton on Saturday, and he capped off his superb performance with a really well taken goal.
Hammers boss David Moyes would have been delighted with the Mexico international’s display at Goodison Park – he passed the eye test and to back that up, his stats were quite simply sensational.
Alvarez has been a huge hit at the London Stadium since swapping Ajax for West Ham in the 2023 summer transfer window.
He has already firmly established himself as a vital member of Moyes’s starting XI and with that in mind, his latest admission is a rather concerning one…

Edson Alvarez makes worrying admission after West Ham beat Everton
The 26-year-old spoke to the media after our fine 3-1 victory against the Toffees on Merseyside on Saturday.
And Alvarez admitted that he felt a cramp in his hamstring when he was sprinting up the pitch just before he scored our third and final goal of the afternoon, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“It was the 95th minute and I just saw Jarrod running with the ball, and I just ran. I felt a little cramp in my hamstring, but I didn’t care, I just ran.”
Now, although he clearly didn’t suffer a proper hamstring tear, it is still concerning that he felt cramps in the muscle when making the sprint just before he scored.
Edson Alvarez is crucial to West Ham United’s hopes of success, and he proved that yet again with his performance against Everton two days ago.
If we lose him for an extended period of time, we quite simply won’t be the same team without him. Cramps in the hamstring are usually signs of fatigue, and that can then lead to more serious injuries, as extensively covered here by Aid Your Hamstring.
Let’s hope that that doesn’t happen because I firmly believe we’d be lost without the former Ajax man in our midfield.
