West Ham United clearly made the right decision by moving Xande Silva on to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2021.

Hammers boss David Moyes decided to sell the 25-year-old to Forest 18 months ago for around £200,000 (Jacob Steinberg).

At the time, that seemed like an absolute bargain for Forest, considering Silva’s fine record for the West Ham youth sides.

The 25-year-old really struggled to impress at the City Ground though.

And selling him for £200k now looks like a great bit of business from the Hammers and Moyes…

The 25-year-old was brought to the London Stadium from Vitoria Guimaraes in 2018 for around €4 million (£3.3 million) according to talkSPORT.

However, he just didn’t cut the mustard at senior level, despite his impressive showings for the under-21’s.

The 25-year-old striker has really struggled since leaving the London Stadium back in the summer of 2021.

During his stint with Forest, Silva failed to score a single goal in 10 games (Transfermarkt). He then left the City Ground to join French side Dijon in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer.

Things haven’t got much better for the Portuguese forward since then. Silva has bagged just five goals in 18 Ligue 2 games for Dijon (Transfermarkt), and his side are second from bottom in France’s second division, level on options with bottom side Rodez.

Former West Ham striker Xande Silva is clearly destined to see out his playing days as nothing more than a journeyman pro.

When Moyes sold him, there were plenty of Hammers fans who questioned the Scot’s decision.

It’s clear to see now that the West Ham manager got it 100% spot on though.
