The West Ham fans should be worried by the latest Nuno Espirito Santo claims.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Nuno Espirito Santo is a potential candidate to replace David Moyes at the London Stadium this summer.

The 59-year-old West Ham manager is under real pressure in his role as West Ham manager, although that has been alleviated somewhat after our last three results against Fulham, Arsenal and Gent.

Even if the Hammers avoid relegation though, and win the UEFA Europa Conference League, I still wouldn’t be surprised to see Moyes moved on at the end of the season.

If that does happen, bringing in a young manager with a really clear vision and footballing philosophy of playing attacking, free-flowing football will be absolutely vital.

Nuno Espirito Santo certainly doesn’t fit into that category…

The Hammers actually explored the possibility of prising Nuno away from his job with Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia back in the winter, but were put off by their £6 million demands for him.

And now the Daily Mail claim that West Ham owners could be back in for the former Tottenham, Wolves, Porto and Valencia manager.

I hope and pray that if Moyes goes, the 49-year-old is not the man to come in and take the reins at the London Stadium.

Just ask the Tottenham fans what they thought of his playing style. The Portuguese deploys a turgid, slow-paced system. There is no intensity in his teams and it is little wonder he didn’t last long in charge of Spurs.

At 49, Nuno isn’t young and up and coming anymore either. There are fresher, more exciting young managers coming through with more innovative ideas.

I really don’t see the point in the Hammers owners getting rid of Moyes only to replace him with a similar type of manager. The former Tottenham chief is extremely defensive in his setup and usually relies upon a counter-attacking system.

West Ham appointing Nuno Espirito Santo would be a really big mistake as far as I’m concerned. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the board have a far more ambitious managerial appointment lined up this summer.
