Divin Mubama has apparently just been given a very important message by the West Ham United hierarchy.

West Ham youngster Divin Mubama came on in place of Danny Ings as a second-half substitute against Burnley on Saturday, and earned rave reviews from the likes of Ian Wright for his top-class performance.

Hammers boss David Moyes had given the 19-year-old just 20 odd minutes of action this season before the Premier League clash at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Mubama proved that he has what it takes to make it at the highest level, so it’s a real worry for us that he recently rejected a new contract offer from the club.

The West Ham youngster is streets ahead of Ings and he’s undoubtedly a more naturally gifted finisher than Michail Antonio.

With the 33-year-old currently out injured, and Ings about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike, it could well be Mubama’s time to shine.

So what is his current standing regarding staying at the club beyond the end of this season? Well, it seems like he has been given a very strong message by the powers that be at the London Stadium…

Divin Mubama given no-nonsense message from West Ham owners

Claret and Hugh claim that the 19-year-old forward has been told to concentrate on playing minutes for the senior team, rather than making money by signing a new contract.

It’s sound advice really, because if he does well for the first-team, a lucrative new contract will find its way to him anyway.

The other interesting takeaway from this report is that Mubama is clearly set to play quite regularly over the next few weeks, and with the amount of games coming our way, he’ll have a big chance to stake a claim as a regular starter for the Hammers.

If the West Ham owners have indeed told Divin Mubama to concentrate on football, I think it’s a great message.

Let’s see what he’s really capable of now over the course of four or five games. One thing’s for sure, I don’t want to see Danny Ings start ahead of him in any competition in the future.

The talented Hammers teenager has a really chance now to show us all what he can do. And I really would be surprised if he hasn’t signed a new deal by the turn of the year.

For once, the West Ham owners might have just handled a situation involving a player absolutely perfectly!
