West Ham United owned centre-back Nayef Aguerd played in the Europa League Real Sociedad vs Manchester United tie on Thursday night.
Nayef Aguerd left West Ham to join Real Sociedad on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2024, and he’s been a big hit in La Liga.
It has been claimed that Graham Potter actually could bring Aguerd back to West Ham in the summer in order to run his eye over him during pre-season training.
Since the 28-year-old left the Hammers, he has been exceptional for Sociedad, so much so that Manchester United allegedly want to sign him now.
Aguerd’s two-year spell at the London Stadium was extremely underwhelming.
He disappointed far more than he impressed, but it is good to see him enjoying success with Sociedad out in Spain.
But would it really be a wise move to integrate him back into the Hammers squad after his loan deal with the La Liga outfit?

The Real Sociedad vs Manchester United Europa League clash ended in a 1-1 draw.
Ruben Amorim’s side took the lead early on in the second-half through a Joshua Zirkzee strike.
The home side came back to equalise with around 15 minutes left, and the tie is now finely poised heading into the second leg at Old Trafford next week.
There were some West Ham fans watching the game, and many said the same about Aguerd’s performance for Sociedad.
One fan suggested that the Moroccan’s display vs Man United gave him serious flashbacks, “Just got a glimpse of the gaps Aguerd leaves there for the United goal. Flashbacks are real.“
A second supporter urged the Hammers not to bring him back to the London Stadium, “Aguerd stinker as soon as it’s PL opposition. Don’t bring this clown back please.“
Meanwhile, a third fan said, “Aguerd laughable, Cannot believe people actually want this guy back.“
Whilst a fourth highlighted Aguerd’s biggest problem, “Same player it looks to me, comfortable in possession but really struggles in the air.“
A fifth fan put it very simply when asked about the 28-year-old, “Struggling.“
Whilst a sixth supporter suggested “Positioning and decision making awful as per.“
The thing with Aguerd is that he can look decent for large periods of a game until he is drawn into a physical battle with the opposition striker, or if a simple ball is played over his head into the channel.
I truly believe that bringing him back to the London Stadium would be a massive mistake and the Hammers owners need to learn how to start selling players whilst their stocks are high.
Aguerd has done something no other La Liga player has managed this season
His performances for Sociedad really have caught the eye.
Aguerd has been calm and composed in possession for Sociedad, and the pace of La Liga seems to suit him so much more than the Premier League.
The Moroccan has actually been on another level to most other centre-backs out in Spain this term.
The Hammers owned centre-back has been a part of more clean sheets than any other player in Spain’s top flight this season, with 12.
Nayef Aguerd clearly isn’t a bad player at all, but it’s obvious to me that Potter shouldn’t even be thinking out bringing him back to West Ham.
The 28-year-old proved time and time again that the Premier League is simply not for him.
If the Hammers do bring him back, he will simply tank his value, and the owners will be leaving a lot of cash on the table.
Nayef Aguerd proved last night for Real Sociedad vs Manchester United that he still has that little lapse in concentration during games, and it cost his side dearly.
Hopefully we won’t see any more of that at the London Stadium in the future.
