Tim Steidten joined West Ham United as our new director of football back in the summer, and he is already attracting admiring glances from Liverpool.
West Ham director of football Tim Steidten had huge success at the London Stadium in the summer by bringing in the likes of Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus, and his transfer market savvy has led to Liverpool eyeing up a move to bring him to Anfield.
Steidten’s job is to recommend transfer targets to Hammers boss David Moyes and as things stand, it must be said that he’s done a fabulous job at the club.
A hugely important summer lies ahead of the 44-year-old German, with at least six new signings needed at West Ham.
Will he actually be at the London Stadium to play a key role in the required rebuild though? Or will he be off doing what he does best somewhere else?
What Tim Steidten really thinks about Liverpool
According to the Daily Mail, Steidten would find it very difficult to turn down Liverpool, if they do indeed come in for him.
The German is the best footballing director we have ever had at the club, and his record with Leverkusen and now us speaks for itself.
If Liverpool manage to prise him away from the London Stadium, it will be a major blow for everyone involved with West Ham.
The fact that he apparently would find it very difficult to turn down a role with the Reds will make our task of keeping him even harder.
I guess all we can do is match his ambition by securing the targets he brings to Moyes and the club’s transfer committee. No more of this ‘we tried’ malarky.
European football and success in the Premier League will obviously do West Ham United’s hopes of keeping Tim Steidten out of Liverpool’s clutches absolutely no harm whatsoever as well.
That said, if Liverpool do move in for the 44-year-old, it is kind of inevitable that he’ll only be working in one place next season, and it won’t be in East London unfortunately.
