West Ham United’s focus is now seemingly turning to moving players on before the transfer window closes.

In fact, a top source inside the London Stadium has claimed that there could be a fire-sale between now and August 30th.

Julen Lopetegui has already signed eight new players this summer, and the West Ham manager is still keen to bring more new faces into the club.

However, the Hammers owners are clearly keen to recoup some funds first, before they make more cash available for Lopetegui.

There are as many as nine fringe players who could be moved on this summer, as the West Ham boss tries to sort out the shambles of a squad he inherited from David Moyes.

One player in particular seems to be primed for an exit this summer, after a disastrous two-year spell in East London.

Maxwel Cornet could leave West Ham

The Ivory Coast international’s days at the London Stadium could well be numbered.

According to a report from The Sun (print edition August 21st, page 47), Maxwel Cornet is attracting admiring glances from Turkey.

It really would be no surprise if the 27-year-old left the London Stadium after a disastrous two-year spell with us.

Maxwel Cornet joined West Ham from Burnley for £17.5 million, in the summer of 2022.

The Ivory Coast international earns £64k-a-week at the London Stadium (Salaray Sport), so moving him on this summer will free up some money from the wage-bill.

Since he moved to the London Stadium from Turf Moor two years ago, Cornet has made just 34 appearances for West Ham, and has been given only 946 minutes of action.

It was reported that the Ivorian actually wanted to leave the Hammers in January to join Crystal Palace, but he remained in East London in the end.

Perhaps Maxwel Cornet should have forced an exit back in the winter, because West Ham is clearly not the right club for him.

Cornet is clearly a very good player on his day – he proved that during his time with Lyon and Burnley. However, it’s obvious that he wasn’t Moyes’s cup of tea.

And it seems like Lopetegui isn’t too keen on him either. The 27-year-old leaving the London Stadium this summer would be the ideal outcome for all parties involved.
