West Ham United coach Kevin Nolan has suggested that £26 million star has been the club’s best signing from the summer of 2022.

Hammers boss David Moyes brought eight new players to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window last year, including Alphonse Areola who spent the previous season with the club on loan.

Hopefully the new signings begin to gel together sooner rather than later, otherwise we will be in real trouble.

Many of the summer arrivals have failed to impress, but one man has really stood out according to Nolan…

The Hammers coach was speaking to the Football Daily Podcast about his side’s disappointing season so far.

And Nolan responded when asked about West Ham’s summer signings:

“Nayef, unfortunately, at Rangers in the second or third pre-season game goes down with an ankle injury and he’s out for three months. He’s probably been our best signing if you like this season, because he’s been able to look from afar and go ‘actually, I know what this is about’, because he’s been around the environment. But, it takes a lot of those lads a lot of time to get used to it, to get used to the intensity, and it’s not just the intensity of what’s going on on Saturday. It’s the intensity that goes on every day, and what’s expected of them.”

West Ham signed Nayef Aguerd from French side Rennes for around £28 million in the summer transfer window (Daily Mail).

The Morocco international arrived at the London Stadium alongside Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet, Flynn Downes, Thilo Kehrer, Emerson Palmieri and Alphonse Areola.

As things stand, Moyes has been unable to get a tune out of at least four of those players.

However, Nayef Aguerd has been a huge success for West Ham, as Kevin Nolan rightly says. Let’s hope that the 26-year-old continues to impress in a Hammers shirt for years to come.
