Flynn Downes was quite simply superb for West Ham United against AEK Larnaca in the UEFA Europa Conference League tonight.
West Ham weren’t great out in Cyprus in all honesty, but things definitely improved in the second-half and the boys got the job done in the end.

David Moyes badly needed that result tonight, and he’ll need the same again on Sunday against Aston Villa.
The Hammers are in real danger of getting relegated and need a win this weekend like you cannot believe.
If West Ham are to get all three points against Villa, Moyes would be wise to start Flynn Downes after his performance tonight.

Flynn Downes was superb for West Ham against AEK Larnaca
Signed for £14 million from Swansea City in the summer (Wales Online), Downes has had to make do with a bit-part role for the Hammers this season.
However, every single time he takes to the pitch in a West Ham shirt, he impresses.
It just baffles me that David Moyes doesn’t start the Brentwood-born midfielder week in, week out.
The 24-year-old West Ham midfielder oozed class against AEK Larnaca tonight, and totally dominated the middle of the park.
Every time he took the ball on the half turn he got his head up and tried to progress the ball forward. He is the complete antithesis of Tomas Soucek.
The Czech midfielder always gives his all and has done really well for us on the whole since moving to the London Stadium in January 2020.
However, I firmly believe that Downes is on another planet entirely to Soucek.
And his performance for West Ham against AEK Larnaca tonight highlighted once again just how much value he adds to our team.
