West Ham United boss David Moyes has shared what he really thought when Arsenal went 2-0 up yesterday.

Arsenal dominated West Ham during the early stages at the London Stadium and much like the fans, David Moyes was clearly fearing the worst.

The Gunners were totally outplaying the Hammers in every department of the pitch, and went 2-0 inside just 10 minutes with goals from Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard.

The London Stadium was stunned into silence initially and it was really close to turning toxic. However, the game was flipped on its head when the West Ham players knuckled down, showed some real fight and tried to get on the front foot against Arsenal.

It made me proud to be a Hammers fan yesterday for the first time in a very long time. However, after 10 minutes or so we were all thinking the same thing…

David Moyes makes honest admission after West Ham vs Arsenal clash

As a Hammers fan, you could be forgiven for thinking that the game was over after just 10 minutes of action at the London Stadium yesterday.

And West Ham manager David Moyes was clearly in the same boat.

The Scot spoke to reporters after the match and made an honest admission about where his head was at when we went 2-0 down, as quoted by Football.London:

“When we went 2-0 down, I have to say I thought ‘my goodness.’ It wasn’t a great start, but I actually didn’t think we started that bad. I think when you ever go 2-0 down to a team who is leading the league, you are saying ‘my goodness, this could go against us.’ I think there was one or two tight moments but as I said, I thought we had threatened enough. I thought at 2-0, we hadn’t deserved to be 2-0 down but Arsenal had played so well and made it look like they were incredibly slick, which they are and they sort of made it look really easy. I think people were accepting, by the way, such good football. I don’t think they were saying West Ham were so bad in their defensive organisation, I think they were nearly saying it was the slickness and the good play of Arsenal.”

I’m pretty sure that we were all thinking the same thing in all fairness.

What a turnaround it was from the boys though – they did us all proud.

Moyes got his West Ham team playing the way that we all want to see them play againast Arsenal yesterday.

Let’s hope that the penny has finally dropped at the club and we approach every remaining game with the same vigour, determination, spirit and fight that the players showed yesterday.
