West Ham United’s exceptional summer transfer window has been the stuff of dreams so far.
Julen Lopetegui has brought eight new players into the London Stadium this summer, and West Ham now have a squad genuinely capable of challenging for the top six or seven places in the Premier League table.
And whilst his main priority may well now be to shift on some of the fringe players, his business is quite clearly far from finished.
The West Ham manager admitted that himself recently when he insisted that he wants two top quality options in every single position.
That may sound overly ambitious but it’s clear to see that Lopetegui is not here to do anything other than guide the Hammers to the promised land.
What a refreshing change it is to have a manager at the helm with genuine ambition to take our great club forward.

Lopetegui already has a really strong squad at his disposal, but one or two more top-class additions would take us to a whole new level.
And it seems like the Spaniard is close to getting the signing of one elite player over the line.
West Ham agree Carlos Soler fee
So the Hammers’ summer transfer window just continues to get better with every week that passes.
According to L’Equipe, West Ham have struck a €25 million (£21.2 million) deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Carlos Soler.
And the 27-year-old has apparently agreed to join the Hammers from PSG this summer.
It was claimed back on Tuesday that negotiations between West Ham and PSG for Carlos Soler were ‘progressing well’.

Now it seems like we’ve finally got our man. That said, I still think one or two players will have to leave before the Spaniard’s move to the London Stadium can be made official.
Soler will be a magnificent addition to Lopetegui’s ranks, and bringing him in will send a really strong message to the rest of the Premier League.
Carlos Soler to West Ham a big statement
The Spaniard has been described as the ‘complete’ player (GFNS), and Soler has absolutely everything needed to succeed with the Hammers in the Premier League.
The silky midfielder bagged two goals and two assists in 24 Ligue 1 games for PSG last season, but only 12 of those appearances were starts.
Despite playing just 1,089 minutes in the league last season, the 27-year-old still averaged 30.8 passes per game, and registered a completion rate of 87.5% (Who Scored).
His ability on the ball and cool and composed nature makes him ideally suited to Lopetegui’s system, with the West Ham boss keen for his team to play out from the back and on into midfield.
Carlos Soler will provide fantastic competition and cover for Lucas Paqueta at West Ham, and if the Brazilian does leave at any point, we will have a ready made replacement already at the club.
Hopefully the Hammers manage to wrap up a deal for the 27-year-old as soon as possible.
