Crysencio Summerville‘s latest comments on West Ham suggest he would be willing to stay for another season.

Summerville is expected to leave the Hammers this summer as part of a major rebuild following their relegation from the Premier League.

The Dutchman left Leeds to join West Ham two years ago because he no longer wanted to play in the Championship.

Therefore, it appears unlikely that he will stay at the London Stadium, but he recently hinted at wanting to achieve promotion next year.

Crysencio Summerville’s latest comments will excite West Ham fans

Summerville’s comments to the Dutch media while on international duty suggest it is not a foregone conclusion that he will leave West Ham.

The winger said he “hopes we can return to the Premier League” when discussing the club’s future after their relegation to the Championship.

“That relegation was tough, for the club and for the players,” he said, via Algemeen Dagblad. “Such a beautiful and big club as West Ham United doesn’t belong in the Championship.

“I just hope we can return to the Premier League as soon as possible. It just wasn’t good enough this season.”

Of course, there is every chance that Summerville chose his words carefully to avoid upsetting West Ham supporters.

However, Hammers fans can still take optimism from the fact that his departure has not been confirmed, or even heavily reported.

Summerville has been linked with several top clubs, but there has been no suggestion that a deal with West Ham is close at all.

Perhaps his future could depend on his performance for the Netherlands at the World Cup this summer.

It would not be the first time a player has earned a lucrative move following an impressive display on the biggest stage.

Crysencio Summerville’s World Cup dream has come true

Summerville admitted that making Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands squad for the World Cup was his ultimate goal for the 2025/26 season.

“At the start of this season, I wrote on my board that I wanted to play the World Cup. I strive for that, and I’m just happy that I’m in the squad now,” he explained.

“I don’t have any goals for the World Cup itself yet, but my goal is, of course, to become world champion.

“For myself, I want to be important for the team with lots of goals and assists, of course. I just want to have a top tournament.”

The 24-year-old is likely to make his senior international debut in one of Holland’s two friendlies before the World Cup.

The Netherlands will face Algeria and Uzbekistan ahead of their Group F games against Japan, Sweden and Tunisia later this month.

Koeman’s side are stacked with quality in defence and midfield, with their attack the biggest question mark heading into the tournament.

Summerville could be a difference-maker if he brings his A-game, something West Ham did not see enough of this season.
