Moyes would have been delighted with his side’s resilience, and winning the game was the most important thing last night, however it came about.

There was one big worry for Moyes and the West Ham fans after the match though…

Michail Antonio spoke to reporters on BT Sport last night after the Hammers finished the first-leg with a one-goal cushion over the Eredivisie outfit.

The striker wasn’t at his brilliant best, that’s for sure. However, he didn’t stop running all night long and was in an old-school physical battle with the Dutch side’s two centre-backs for the majority of the game.

And after speaking, the 33-year-old badly limped off the London Stadium pitch:

Let’s hope that Micky was just a bit stiff after the match following what was a real battle with the AZ Alkmaar defenders for 75 minutes or so.

Michail Antonio has just started to rediscover his best form at just the right time for West Ham, so the fact that he was spotted limping badly after last night’s win is a big concern.

Gianluca Scamacca is currently out injured whilst Danny Ings doesn’t look like he suits Moyes’s system one little bit.

Fingers croisses that Antonio is back for the second-leg next week. I would be amazed if Moyes risked the 33-year-old against Brentford on Sunday.
