It is safe to say West Ham and their fans have loved every minute of their European adventures in the Europa League and Europa Conference League over the last two seasons.

Because West Ham’s eight-game winning run from the group stages to the quarter-finals is officially the longest winning streak of any English team in the entire history of UEFA club competitions.

That is some statistic. And given West Ham have faced established clubs with European pedigree such as Anderlecht and Steaua Bucharest (FCSB), it is no mean feat.

Yes the standard of opposition is lower in the Conference League up to a certain point.

But given the quality of some of the English teams in Europe down the decades it is astonishing that West Ham hold such a significant record.

It should be a source of pride for all West Ham fans and is a record that will likely remain for many years to come.

West Ham play Gent over two legs in the quarter-finals next month. And the Belgians posted an interesting Tweet about the Hammers ahead of the tie.
