Gent have posted an interesting Tweet about West Ham after learning their fate in the Europa Conference League quarter-final draw.

West Ham now know who they will and could face in the quarters, semis and final of the Conference League after the double UEFA draw on Friday.

The Hammers cruised into the quarter-finals after a 6-0 aggregate win over AEK Larnaca in the last 16.

West Ham will now face Belgian side Gent in the quarter-finals over two legs on April 13th and 20th.

Crucially West Ham will play the second leg at home on Thursday April 20th – which is considered a major advantage in knockout competitions.

Gent – also known by their full name Koninklijke Atletiek Associatie Gent – will be no pushovers.

But West Ham will once again fancy their chances of progressing to a second European semi-final in as many years.

Now Gent have posted an interesting Tweet about West Ham after learning their fate in the Europa Conference League quarter-final draw.

The Belgian club has reminded everyone that this will not be the first time they have faced West Ham.

Gent posted a ticket stub from a previous meeting with the Hammers in the preliminary round of the European Cup Winners Cup on October 7th 1964 at our beloved former Boleyn Ground.

The club was then known under its French name La Gantoise (and it is still referred to as such in the French-speaking part of Belgium).

“It’s been a while but 59 years later, we meet again West Ham!” Gent posted on Twitter alongside smiling and waving emojis.

That tie was played over two legs with West Ham winning 1-0 away thanks to a Ronnie Boyce goal before drawing 1-1 at Upton Park in a 2-1 aggregate victory – Johnny Byrne with our goal.

If they get past Gent to make the semi-finals, West Ham will face the winners of the quarter-final between AZ Alkmaar and Anderlecht – who West Ham beat twice in the group stages – for a place in the final in Prague.

It means West Ham will make a third trip to Belgium – and could be in line for a fourth – in the last two seasons after facing Genk in the Europa League last term and Anderlecht in the group stages.
