Paul Merson has made a bold weekend claim David Moyes will love and names two to drop from West Ham, Leeds and Everton.
West Ham, Everton and Leeds United are three of nine clubs currently separated by just five points in what is being billed the tightest relegation battle for years.
West Ham were given a huge boost in midweek when Crystal Palace and Southampton both lost to keep the Hammers out of the relegation zone.
That is only by virtue of goal difference with Leeds one point behind the Hammers and Everton one point ahead.
West Ham play Leeds in the penultimate game of the season at the London Stadium in what could prove to be a hugely decisive match.
Many pundits have been saying for some time that West Ham are ‘too good to go down’.
Others believe the appointment of Sean Dyche will keep Everton in the Premier League. And while Leeds’ decision to sack Jesse Marsch divided opinion, bringing in Javi Gracia has been seen as a clever move which could save the Elland Road outfit.
One thing is for certain, it will go down to the wire.
West Ham do not play this weekend after the postponement of the game at Man City due to their involvement in the FA Cup.
But relegation rivals Everton and Leeds are both in action, away to Chelsea and Wolves respectively.
The Hammers will be hoping results continue to go their way to keep Leeds below them and Everton within touching distance.
Now Merson has made a bold weekend claim Moyes will love and names two to drop from West Ham, Leeds and Everton.
Speaking on Sportskeeda, Merson has predicted the weekend’s results in the Premier League.
And he has every single result involving the relegation battle as going in West Ham’s favour.
Not only that but Merson also predicts that Everton and Leeds will be relegated alongside Southampton.
Merson believes Nottingham Forest will draw with Newcastle, meaning West Ham remain just one win off going above them.
He predicts Brentford will beat Leicester by two goals, which would actually see West Ham move up a place without playing by virtue of goal difference.
Merson believes Spurs and Villa will do West Ham a big favour by beating Southampton and Bournemouth respectively.
And the pundit says there will be comfortable victories for Wolves against Leeds, Chelsea against Everton and Arsenal over Palace.
Should Merson’s predictions prove accurate, it will see West Ham sitting 16th going into the international break and within one win of 12th place.
