Two concerning Crysencio Summerville problems come to light overnight for West Ham

It was claimed two days ago that West Ham United were closing in on a deal to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United.

The 22-year-old winger travelled down to London yesterday to undergo his medical, and if all goes through smoothly, he could join up with the boys on the US tour.

In fact, Fabrizio Romano even gave the deal his famous ‘Here we go’ stamp of authority, but now it seems like West Ham still have a couple of issues to iron out if we are to sign Crysencio Summerville.

The Leeds man is an electric left winger, and if he does move to the London Stadium, he will make us a total nightmare to play against.

After Said Benrahma left, it was vital for Julen Lopetegui to bring in a right-footed left winger to replace the Algerian.

Summerville would not only replace Benrahma, but he’d be a huge upgrade on him as well, there’s no doubt about that.

So what’s the current state of play and when can we expect to see the 22-year-old holding up the Hammers shirt? Nothing is done yet unfortunately…

Getting the Leeds winger in through the door this summer will be a huge coup for the Hammers.

Especially for the £25 million that’s being reported – what an absolute steal that is in this day and age.

I have a feeling that the 22-year-old winger will be a sensational signing for us. The thought of him playing alongside the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta is an extremely exciting one.

He possesses blistering pace, is incredibly direct in the way that he plays and has many more years left ahead of him before he even reaches his peak.

Summerville bagged an impressive 21 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances for Leeds United last season, and if he could replicate anything like that at the London Stadium he’d be well worth the money.

I cannot wait for him to arrive in East London, but it seems like there are a couple of things to really worry about regarding the deal…

Florian Plettenberg took to his official X account last night to provide an update on the transfer saga.

He suggested that whilst Summerville has completed his medical, there are to things that still need to be ironed out.

Firstly, the length of contract is still yet to be agreed upon, and the club are not fully committed regarding whether to give the 22-year-old a four or five-year deal.

Secondly, the agreement on the final transfer fee with Leeds has not been completely agreed.

That claim from Plettenberg goes in direct contrast to what Romano suggested two days ago.

I must admit, I’m with Fab on this one. I do find it strange that a player would complete his medical without the two clubs having agreed a fee, or personal terms being signed off.

West Ham will surely sign Crysencio Summerville in the end, but there might just be a few unexpected bumps along the way.
