A really interesting link has emerged between West Ham United director of football Tim Steidten and ex Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has been linked with the manager’s job at the London Stadium recently, and his past history with West Ham DOF Tim Steidten makes for very interesting reading indeed.
Current Hammers manager David Moyes is really feeling the pressure right now, and the board are said to be far from happy with the Scot’s comments after our 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Now, it could well be all change at the London Stadium soon, with Moyes bring heavily tipped for the sack. However, the more worrying thing is that Steidten has been linked with a big move to Liverpool.
As things stand though, I believe the stars could be aligning perfectly for West Ham…
Tim Steidten and Thomas Tuchel Chelsea link emerges
According to the Express, Steidten was set to move to Chelsea to work with Tuchel before the German’s surprise sacking at Stamford Bridge in September 2022.
That’s great news for the Hammers on two counts as far as I’m concerned. It means that should we appoint Tuchel, Steidten would be more likely to stay and vice-versa – should Stiedten remain at the London Stadium, our chances of bringing in the Bayern boss to replace Moyes will increase ten-fold.
I would absolutely love the former Chelsea boss, 50, at West Ham.
Whatever people say, he was a success at Stamford Bridge. He won the Champions League during his time with the Blues and had his team competing with Premier League juggernauts Manchester City and Liverpool for large parts of the season.
He favours a possession-based system with a front three who are always interchanging positions. If you need evidence of the quality of football that Tuchel is capable of implementing, just watch a video of Chelsea dismantling Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in April 2022.
A partnership of Tim Steidten and Thomas Tuchel at West Ham would be the absolute dream. And I really think there is a genuine chance that David Sullivan could make it happen.
