Dean Jones has just made a big claim about West Ham United manager David Moyes and Liverpool target Tim Steidten.
West Ham manager David Moyes has done a fine job at the London Stadium over the past few years, and he has been helped in the transfer market recently by Tim Steidten, after the German was appointed as the club’s director of football in July.
The Hammers signed Edson Alvarez, Mohammed Kudus, Konstantinos Mavropanos and James Ward-Prowse in the summer and then Kalvin Phillips in January.
Only one of those signings were believed to be driven by Moyes – Ward-Prowse. Steidten is already a hugely popular figure at the club, but he is now being linked with a move away to join Liverpool.
The 44-year-old is highly respected in the game, so losing him so soon after bringing him to the club would be a major backwards step. It seems like that could be a very real possibility though…

David Moyes staying reportedly could see Tim Steidten join Liverpool
Dean Jones has suggested that if Moyes stays, Steidten could leave, when speaking to Give Me Sport:
“Perhaps Moyes staying adds credence to why Steidten might be more likely to leave West Ham and go to Liverpool right now. But I think we also have to weigh in that Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs you could ever be involved in, and it is extremely difficult to say no to them if they do come knocking. I don’t know enough about Steidten and Alonso’s relationship. But from afar, you would see they’ve both worked at Leverkusen, understand a similar philosophy, and have been working from the same book. So, there are reasons to believe they can work together and might even be very open to it.”
Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is being touted as the new Liverpool manager, with Jurgen Klopp set to leave Anfield at the end of the season (The Mirror).
I wouldn’t be surprised one little bit if Tim Steidten leaves to join Liverpool, and David Moyes stays at the London Stadium this summer.
The farcical January transfer window must prove to the German that his future doesn’t lie with West Ham, certainly not under the current regime.
Let’s hope I’m wrong, but I really feel like there could be big change afoot at West Ham when this current season ends.
