Unfortunately for Cornet though, his Hammers career has been very much stop-start so far.

He made his last appearance for West Ham back in early October during our 2-0 win over Wolves at the London Stadium.
At the time, the injury was expected to keep Cornet out for around a couple of weeks. However, we’re now four months down the line and still awaiting the Ivory Coast international’s return…
West Ham crock Maxwel Cornet dealt another big blow
Things seem to be going from bad to worse for the 26-year-old. It just seems like it’s one setback after another at the moment for him.
According to a reporter with very close links to West Ham – Sean Whetstone, Cornet is suffering with a virus as he works hard to return to fitness:
You really couldn’t make it up could you!
Maxwel Cornet has experienced some terrible luck since joining West Ham United from Burnley in the summer transfer window.
At the moment, it just seems like it’s setback after setback for the Ivorian winger. David Moyes desperately needs him back fit as soon as possible.
Without Maxwel Cornet, West Ham have zero pace inside the final third, and his return to action will undoubtedly help us in the fight against relegation.
Hopefully the ex-Burnley ace gets over this virus as soon as possible. When he eventually does return to action, he’ll be like new signing for the Hammers!
