‘There’s someone who might kill me’: Aaron Cresswell has opened up on West Ham United’s ‘Cotton Eye Joe’ tradition.
West Ham beat Manchester United at the London Stadium last night, and Aaron Cresswell played a vital part in his side’s victory.

Cresswell has recently worked his way back into David Moyes’s starting lineup ahead of Emerson Palmieri, and he is starting to look more like his old self.
The West Ham team in general are getting back to their best, and as a result, one of the old traditions created by the players a few years back has returned…
West Ham Cotton Eye Joe tradition is back
Cresswell spoke exclusively to WHUFC.com after our fabulous 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Premier League last night.
And the 33-year-old Hammers left-back opened up on how he and his teammates celebrate big wins in the dressing room:

“I don’t know if I can say too much about Cotton Eye Joe. There is someone who might kill me if I say what really happened, but [our soft tissue therapist] Craig Mazur absolutely loves it. So we’ve just come in after three points, and the gaffer does his speech, and then the music comes on and it’s ‘Cotton Eye Joe’ and next minute Craig is there, no top on, swinging it around, and all the lads are just buzzing! It’s something we’ve had over the last couple of years now and it’s just that great atmosphere we’ve got. We’ve had spells this year that have been really tough and everyone has been low on confidence, but nights like this make it special.”
Cotton Eye Joe was released by American band Rednex in 1995 and topped the music charts in 11 different countries!
Those who are familiar with the song will know just how catchy it is, and I would love to be a fly on the wall in our dressing room after a big win to see the players vibing to the Rednex’ famous anthem.
Surely if we win the Europa Conference League, the club will have to arrange some special access to the West Ham dressing room. There will undoubtedly be footage that emerges, if we do lift the cup.
I never would have thought that I’d hear West Ham and Cotton Eye Joe in the same sentence! It’s great to hear that the dressing room is in good spirits though, ahead of a vital week’s fixtures lying in wait.
