West Ham United apparently have a real chance of signing free agent Sergi Roberto this summer.
The 32-year-old was released by Barcelona when his contract expired at the end of June, and West Ham are now in the race for his signature.
Interestingly, it is being suggested that Barca could actually re-sign him, but it seems like Roberto wants a fresh start.
Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui is quite clearly desperate to sign a new right-back this summer, and is apparently still trying to force through a move for Manchester United ace Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
However, Lopetegui clearly has other targets lined up.
And Roberto being mentioned as a potential target for West Ham has to go down as one of the shock links of the summer.
The latest update regarding the Spaniard potentially moving to the London Stadium really will raise some eyebrows.

The 11-capped Spain international is on the lookout for a new club this summer.
And it seems like the London Stadium could very well be his next destination, after 18 years with Barcelona.
According to a report from AS (print edition July 27th, page 9), West Ham are one of only two clubs the 32-year-old wants to join this summer, with Aston Villa being the other.
Despite his advancing years, I believe that Roberto could be a very good signing for the Hammers, on a short-term deal – let’s say for two years.
The Spaniard can operate as a right-back or in his original central midfield position.
Lopetegui desperately needs more competition in the right-back department, and the West Ham head coach is on the hunt for central midfield reinforcements as well.
Signing Sergi Roberto on a free transfer would be a way for West Ham to kill two birds with one stone, and a really cheap option at that.
The 32-year-old may not be the first choice signing of every West Ham fan this summer, but I think he’d do a job for us.
Signing him for absolutely nothing? A no-brainer for me.
