David Moyes refusing to start one particular West Ham United player has absolutely baffled Andrew Cole.
West Ham manager David Moyes has made some strange decisions recently, and he has received his fair share of criticism from fans and pundits alike.

Danny Ings was signed by Hammers boss Moyes from Aston Villa for around £12 million in January (Evening Standard).
However, he has proven to be an absolutely horrendous signing for us, and Moyes really should be looking to sell him in January.
At the same time, it could be argued that he quite simply hasn’t been given enough chances to showcase his true worth, something that Andrew Cole cannot understand one little bit…

Andrew Cole is baffled why David Moyes signed player who hardly ever starts for West Ham
Cole was a guest in the Sky Sports studio for tonight’s Carabao Cup clash between the Hammers and Arsenal.
And Cole shared his surprise that Ings never gets a look-in for West Ham (Wednesday November 1st, 7:16pm):
“It does surprise me because Danny Ings is there, but he never gets a game, so I look at it like, ‘why did you bring him in’? Me personally, I think he’s one of the best goal-scorers in the Premier League. I find it really, really strange that he’s playing Bowen up front when he’s got Ings. He’s never given the opportunity, for me personally, it’s another strange signing.”
I agree with Cole to a certain extent – Ings really hasn’t been given a chance to shine.
However, he has wasted any opportunity he has been given with shocking performances every single time.
Three goals in just 33 games for West Ham tells us all we need to know about how painfully ill-suited he is to Moyes’s system (Transfermarkt). He thrives when playing as part of a two up top – a system that Moyes never deploys.
So it’s little wonder as to why he has failed so miserably since moving to the London Stadium.
That’s the crux of the matter isn’t it – Ings does not suit the Hammers’ playing style one little bit. So why on earth David Moyes signed him for West Ham in the first place really is anyone’s guess.
