Roy Keane has heavily criticised one West Ham United player in particular this afternoon.
West Ham took on Arsenal at the London Stadium today and Roy Keane was on punditry duty for Sky Sports.
It was very much a case of the same old, same old for the Hammers this afternoon, as David Moyes set up his side to sit back and soak up the pressure.
Arsenal dictated the tempo of the game and imposed themselves onto us. It was a West Ham performance that has become all too common over the past six weeks or so unfortunately.
The Hammers have fallen off badly since the turn of the year, and that’s such a shame because we were in such a strong position.
One of the main reasons for our recent collapse was the horrendous transfer business conducted by the club in January. Kalvin Phillips was brought in, but he has made a really slow start to life at the club.
And Keane has now questioned the 28-year-old big time…

Roy Keane says West Ham player needs to take a look at himself
The Irishman was a guest in the Sky Sports studio today.
And Keane highlighted how Phillips should be taking a long hard look at himself, having failed to break into the West Ham starting XI so far, when speaking on Sky Sports this afternoon (Sunday February 11th, 1:46pm):
“You know, it’s a strange one because David Moyes said we have to give him a bit of time, but if you bring in a player on loan on big fees and wages, you need him to hit the ground running. So Phillips needs to take a long hard look at himself, why isn’t he getting up to speed?”
In fairness to Phillips, he has barely played over the past 12 months, and before his start against Bournemouth on February 1st, he hadn’t started a Premier League game since May!
I’m sure the England international will come good but questions do need to be asked about our January recruitment. Did we really need Phillips? I’m not sure we did.
It could be argued that Moyes actually needed to sign a centre-back, a right-back, a winger and a striker before he even thought about bringing Phillips to the London Stadium.
Roy Keane criticised Kalvin Phillips today but I feel like that criticism was kind of misplaced, and he should have been pointing the finger at the West Ham owners and manager instead.
