Staggering list of 12 first-team players who could leave West Ham this summer

Numerous first-team players could be set to leave West Ham United at the end of the 2023/24 season.

West Ham boss David Moyes could be set for a big summer transfer window rebuild at the London Stadium, with as many as 12 players potentially set for an exit from the East London outfit.

Moyes will undoubtedly have various different transfer targets lined up ahead of the summer window opening, and is thought to be on the hunt for a new striker with Youssef En-Nesyri being linked again.

However, the biggest task that he faces will be to clear the deadwood that is currently clogging up his squad.

Numerous players will be out of contract in the summer at the London Stadium, whilst there are some big names who could fetch us lucrative transfer fees as well.

It’s all set to be an extremely busy transfer window coming up in East London…

12 players who could leave West Ham this summer

We have a big mix of players who are out of contract and those who are being targeted by other clubs.

Here’s the list of 12 players who may well not be West Ham players next season…

Lukasz Fabianski

The 38-year-old will be out of contract at the London Stadium in the summer. Whilst there has been talk of the experienced goalkeeper being handed a new deal, one has not be offered to him as yet.

Aaron Cresswell

Like Fabianski, the 34-year-old left-back’s deal is set to expire in just three month’s time. Cresswell has been a great servant for us, but he is well past his best now, and I fully expect him to be released in the summer.

Ben Johnson

The 24-year-old full-back is another Hammer set to be out of contract at the end of this season. He has shown some real promise over the past few months, but considering the fact that he’s allegedly looking to triple his wages, moving him on will be the best call.

Angelo Ogbonna

Yet another one coming to the end of his current deal with West Ham. Ogbonna will be 36 in May, but he’s still a hugely influential figure at the London Stadium, and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he’s offered a short-term extension.

Nayef Aguerd

The 27-year-old has been hugely disappointing since he joined the Hammers from Rennes back in the summer of 2022. He’s clearly not built for the Premier League, and has been linked with a big money move out to the Saudi Pro League. I fully expect Aguerd to move on from West Ham this summer.

Kurt Zouma

The 29-year-old has regressed badly this season, from a physical perspective at least. His knees have completely gone and I reckon West Ham will be be open to selling him, if anyone comes in for his services.

Flynn Downes

The 25-year-old is playing really well on loan with Southampton this season, but it has been claimed that the Hammers hierarchy are ready to cash in on him this summer. I actually don’t mind Downes at all as a player, but with Edson Alvarez at the London Stadium, he’ll struggle for regular action. Whether he stays or leaves will most likely depend heavily on what Moyes decides to do with Kalvin Phillips in the summer.

Maxwel Cornet

Well, Cornet is probably the name who is most likely to leave West Ham this summer. He has been in horrendous form in general since moving to the London Stadium, but injuries have really hindered his progress as well. I’m almost certain that he’ll be off.

Lucas Paqueta

The Brazilian is being heavily linked with a big money move to Manchester City (The Telegraph). Now, we obviously all want to keep him at the club but if Man City come in for him, it will be impossible to do that.

Losing Paqueta will be a hard pill to swallow, but the 26-year-old’s exit is something that we’re all going to have to come to terms with sooner rather than later in my opinion.

Michail Antonio

Now, I don’t actually expect Mick to leave this summer, but reports have suggested that Moyes could get rid of the Jamaica international (Evening Standard). He’ll be 34 at the end of this month, and is definitely on the downward curve of his career. I reckon he’s got one more season in him at the London Stadium though.

Danny Ings

The 31-year-old has never established himself with the Hammers, since joining us from Aston Villa back in January 2023. He’s painfully ill-suited to Moyes’s system and his tally of just four goals in 46 games for West Ham tells its own story (Transfermarkt). I expect him to no longer be a Hammer by the time the new 2024/25 season kicks off.

Divin Mubama

The 19-year-old is still yet to put pen to paper on a new contract with the Hammers, and his current deal will expire in just a few month’s time. If he doesn’t commit his future to West Ham, he will obviously be released as a free agent in the summer.

The thing is, that list above isn’t even including the likes of Said Benrahma and Thilo Kehrer who are currently at Lyon and Monaco respectively on loan.

Whilst I don’t expect every single one of those players mentioned above to leave the club this summer, it would be no surprise at all if seven or eight of them were moved on.

David Moyes clearly faces a very big rebuild at the London Stadium in the upcoming summer transfer window.

12 first-team players potentially could leave West Ham before the start of next season, so even if half of them are sold or released, I expect to see Moyes bring in around six new faces as a bare minimum.
