Pablo Fornals had a really tough time at West Ham United under David Moyes at West Ham United.
West Ham boss David Moyes barely played Pablo Fornals during his final 18 months at the club – he played just 417 Premier League minutes this season for the Hammers before he left to join Real Betis (Transfermarkt).
The 27-year-old has already made a big impression with Betis, and he scored an absolutely brilliant goal for them a couple of weeks ago.
I can’t help but feel that Moyes wasted Fornals’ ability and skillset but playing out wide on the left for the most part.
And it seems as though the Spanish media are thinking along exactly the same lines…

Why Pablo Fornals struggled so badly under David Moyes at West Ham
Diario de Sevilla have suggested that Pablo Fornals is much better when he has the ball at feet, and when he’s involved right in the thick of games.
And that’s exactly why he failed to make any kind of impact for us over the past 18 months or so.
Fornals was never properly involved in the heart of a game in the middle of the park, and was pretty much a passenger out on the left wing.
The Spaniard excelled with Villarreal when pulling the strings in a central midfield role – that was why Manuel Pellegrini brought him to the London Stadium in 2019.
However, Moyes preferred him out wide on the left, helping to provide defensive cover for whichever left-back was playing at the time.
Pablo Fornals and David Moyes were never going to be a match made in heaven were they. Their styles and philosophies were just way too contrasting. Pablo had to leave the London Stadium for the good of his own career.
