Simon Jordan makes Kalvin Phillips claim that will absolutely baffle West Ham fans

Simon Jordan thinks that Kalvin Phillips wouldn’t be making a forward step by leaving Leeds for West Ham in the summer.

Hammers boss David Moyes wants to bring the 26-year-old Leeds midfielder to the London Stadium from Elland Road in the summer transfer window according to The Sun and The Times.

The 13-capped England international will undoubtedly be hot propriety this summer.

Aston Villa, as well as the Hammers, want to sign the midfielder according to The Times.

We would absolutely love to see Kalvin Phillips at the London Stadium.

And we firmly believe that the defensive midfielder would be open to joining the Hammers in the summer as well.

Simon Jordan issues Kalvin Phillips verdict

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan was speaking to talkSPORT about the 26-year-old and where he will be plying his trade next season.

Simon Jordan explained why Kalvin might be better off just staying with Leeds United:

“I’m a big admirer of Leeds United. I realise that they’ve been out of the Premier League for a long time, so their status as a club of significance has been greatly diminished. If Leeds can get their act together, they’ve got new ownership, new American shareholders who will put money behind Radrizzani and continue to evolve the club. They’ve had a difficult season. Losing Phillips is not an option for them. We’re talking about Phillips and we’re talking about where he is. I think the Whites are a big club, Villa are a big club, the Hammers are a big club. If they can get themselves focused and manage to support whoever is managing this football club, I’d like to think he would stay there. But you can make a case for all three of them. West Ham have done wonderfully this year. I would make a case that the potential of Leeds and the size of that football club is as big, if not bigger, than Villa and West Ham. You could make the argument that Villa are an iconic football club. I would make less of an argument for West Ham. And I know Hammers fans are going to dislike me intensely for it. They’re a London football club with some decent heritage which contributed to the winning of the World Cup.”

Simon Jordan has made a name for himself for being an outspoken pundit on talkSPORT.

Sometimes he actually talks a lot of sense, as hard as that might be for people to hear.

The latest comments from Simon Jordan on Kalvin Phillips really were wide of the mark though. West Ham finished sixth in the Premier League table last season and we are comfortably sitting in seventh this term.

We also have a Europa League quarter-final against Lyon to look forward to next month.

Meanwhile, Leeds finished in ninth spot last season and are languishing down in 16th this term, just seven points clear of the drop zone.

West Ham is clearly a big step up from Leeds at the moment and that’s not even us just being biased. Simon Jordan badly misjudged his comments on Kalvin Phillips potentially joining us from the Whites.

Who knows…perhaps Simon Jordan was just trying to be controversial. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time that a talkSPORT pundit has done that.

Kalvin Phillips would be a great signing for the Hammers and no matter what Simon Jordan says, we think that the 26-year-old would be making a very good career move by joining us in the summer transfer window.
