West Ham United transfer target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic knows exactly where he wants to play next season, amidst strong links to Arsenal.

That’s according to a report from Corriere dello Sport who claim that the 28-year-old Lazio star is wanted by both West Ham and Arsenal.

Hammers boss David Moyes allegedly eyes Milinkovic-Savic as a direct replacement for Declan Rice, according to Corriere dello Sport (print edition February 6th, page 17), with the 24-year-old being tipped for a London Stadium exit.

However, it appears as though there is far more chance of the Serbian midfielder moving to the Emirates than the London Stadium.

The Gunners are dominating the Premier League at the moment, whilst the Hammers are treading water near the bottom of the table.

There is obviously more chance that Milinkovic-Savic will want to play under Mikel Arteta rather than Moyes. And that’s what the latest reports coming out of Italy suggest as well…

Arsenal in pole position to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Corriere dello Sport claim that the 28-year-old Lazio star wants to leave Serie A in order to join the Gunners.

The only silver lining here for the Hammers is that Arsenal surely won’t be signing Milinkovic-Savic AND Declan Rice in the summer.

Missing out on the Lazio star would obviously be a big blow for West Ham – he is a truly exceptional talent.

Football Italia recently described the midfielder as an ‘unstoppable’ player. Meanwhile, The Laziali label him as ‘world-class’.

The only silver lining here for the Hammers is that Arsenal surely won’t be signing Milinkovic-Savic AND Declan Rice in the summer.

So if the Gunners do bring the Serbian to North London, our chances of keeping Dec will increase, albeit only slightly.

That is grasping at straws though in all honesty. Whether we ever had a genuine chance of signing the 28-year-old midfielder is debatable.

However, with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic keen to join Arsenal, our hopes of bringing him to the London Stadium are now well and truly dead and buried.
